The Grandness of La Grand-Place, Brussels

The Grand Place is also known as Grote Markt. This place is located in the central square of Brussels. This place is surrounded by guildhalls along with two larger edifices, the city’s Town Hall and the Breadhouse building which contains the Museum of the City of Brussels. This square is known to be the most important tourist destination along with being the most memorable landmark in Brussels. This square measures 68 by 110 metres ( 223 by 361 ft) and is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.



After every two years in August, a big flower carpet is set up right in front of the palace for a few days. The flower display covers full 24 by 77 metres with a million beautiful colorful begonias set up in patterns. In the year 1971, the first flower carpet was set up. And due to its popularity, the flower carpet is still spread attracting numerous tourists. This square is surely a must visit as it is often remarked as one of the best squares in europe.
