The Wilderness of Yala National Park

The second largest as well as the most visited national park in Sri Lanka is Yala National Park. The park is divided into five blocks among which two sections are now open for the visiting of public. This park is best known for its variety of wild animals and is reputed for conservation of Sri Lankan elephants, aquatic birds and Sri Lankan leopards. This park is reputed for being one of the 70 important Bird Areas in Sri Lanka. and is known to have one of the highest leopards densities in the world.





According to reports, Yala National Park is said to harbour 215 bird species which includes six endemic species of Sri Lanka. There are nearly 44 species of mammal which are residing in Yala National Park. Various tourist from all across the world mostly European tourist visit this park every year and the wilderness of this park will surely keep you spell bounded.
