The Rich History and Architectural Significance of Temple of Karnak

Comprising of vast chapels, decayed temples, pylons as well as other buildings, Temple of Karnak attracts tourist from all across the globe. This place has derived its name from the nearby and surrounded village of El-Karnak which is 2.5 kilometres north of Luxor.



This city of temples was said to have been built over 2,000 years and the temple is dedicated to the Theban triad of Amun, Khonsu and Mut. This place is majestic in itself and its several colossal statues has the power to overshadow different wonders of the world.


It is said that the area of the great temple situated at the heart of Karnak is so big that it can easily fit the Notre Dame Cathedrals and St Peter’s in Milan within its walls.
