The white splendour of architecture- Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal often addressed as the crown of Palaces is beautifully crafted white marble mausoleum located in Agra of Uttar Pradesh, India. This building is said to have been built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the fond and loving memory of his third wife Mumtaz Mahal. This beautiful mausoleum is universally admired as masterpieces and finest examples of World’s heritage. In the year 1983, the Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The most famous part of Taj Mahal is the white domed marble mausoleum and is said to be an integrated complex of structures.

The extraordinary splendour of Mughal architecture is reflected in the beautiful structure of Taj Mahal. In fact the style of this mausoleum combines elements from Persian, Ottoman Turkish, Islamic as well as Indian architectural styles. The construction is said to have begun around 1632 and was reported to have been completed around 1653. The Taj Mahal is said to attract a large number of tourists every year not only from the country but also from all across the globe. UNESCO is said to have documented that more than 2 million visitors in the year 2001 with nearly 200,000 from overseas. I will sure end by saying that the sight of Taj Mahal on a full night will surely make you spellbound.
